GREEN OAKS, IL (July 18, 2025) – A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a crash involving a semi-truck at the intersection of Route 176 and Bradley Road, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 2:35 p.m. when the motorcyclist, riding a 2013 Harley Davidson westbound on Route 176, approached the intersection with a green light. At the same time, a 2008 Peterbilt semi-truck, driven by a 50-year-old man from McHenry, was traveling eastbound and attempted to turn left in front of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle collided with the semi-truck during the turn. The rider was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The Lake County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy and will release the victim’s identity after notifying his family.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash. Left-turn collisions are a common cause of motorcycle fatalities, often raising questions about right-of-way violations and failure to yield.
Families of motorcyclists killed in traffic collisions may have legal options to pursue wrongful death claims for funeral expenses, lost support, and emotional suffering when another driver’s actions contribute to the crash.
We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the motorcyclist during this difficult time.
