Victorville, CA (June 10, 2025) — A 56-year-old Victorville man was killed Tuesday night in a collision involving his motorcycle and a pickup truck, according to local authorities.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 10:34 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Hesperia Road, just south of Jasmine Street. Emergency responders from the Victorville Police Department, Victorville Fire Department, and American Medical Response arrived at the scene and provided aid.
The victim, identified as Dean J. Sutherland, was riding a red BMW R1100RT motorcycle when he collided with a gray Ford F-150. Sutherland suffered significant injuries and was transported to Desert Valley Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the Ford truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Hesperia Road was closed between Jasmine Street and Bear Valley Road for several hours while the Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team conducted its preliminary investigation.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities continue to investigate and will assess speed, visibility, lane usage, and right-of-way.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the Sutherland family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim. Such a claim can help recover funeral costs, emotional suffering, and the loss of support caused by the untimely loss.
