Cajon Pass, CA (May 11, 2025) — A motorcyclist was seriously injured and airlifted to a trauma center following a collision with a sedan on the southbound 15 Freeway Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. on May 11, just south of Oak Hill Road. Preliminary reports indicate that a motorcycle and a silver sedan collided in the No. 1 lane, ejecting the rider from the bike.
Emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded quickly to the scene and provided treatment before requesting a Mercy Air medical helicopter for transport. The rider was reported to be conscious when airlifted to a nearby trauma center. No other major injuries were reported.
All southbound lanes of the freeway were temporarily shut down to allow the helicopter to land and depart safely, resulting in significant traffic delays through the Cajon Pass.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: CHP is actively investigating the cause of the collision. Authorities will evaluate whether speed, lane changes, driver distraction, or failure to yield contributed to the crash.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, the motorcyclist may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim. Such a claim could help cover medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering resulting from the crash.
I hope the motorcyclist makes a full and swift recovery from this accident.
