Motorcycle Crash Kills Manuel Leyva Mier in Industry

Industry, CA (February 15, 2025) – On Saturday night, 25-year-old motorcyclist Manuel Leyva Mier of La Palma tragically lost his life in a crash.

Accident Details: The collision occurred near Temple and Ruthcrest Avenues around 8:30 pm. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Mier drove a black 2016 Yamaha R6 motorcycle west on Temple Avenue. A westbound silver Kia Soul in front of him changed lanes. Mier lost control of the motorcycle and swerved, hitting a pole to the right. He was ejected from the motorcycle. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia left the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were involved.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination.

  • Lane Changes: All drivers are required to operate their vehicles with caution. Investigators will analyze the situation to determine what happened. When drivers change lanes, they must ensure other drivers are aware of the intended maneuver and consider speed and other vehicles.
  • Identifying the Driver: When drivers are involved in an accident, they are legally obligated to stop, report the crash to authorities, and get emergency services to the scene. Investigators will review video surveillance and obtain witness statements to determine if the driver of the Kia can be located.

If the crash is determined to have been caused by another’s negligence, Mier’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Manuel Leyva Mier during this heartbreaking time.
