Misty Lynn Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 180 in Fresno County, CA

Fresno County, CA (March 11, 2026) – Misty Lynn, 34 years old, was killed in a head-on collision with a Tesla on Highway 180 in Fresno County.

Incident Details: According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. on March 11, 2026, near Old Oak Road. Investigators reported that a Tesla traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a Kia Soul.

The force of the impact caused the Kia, driven by Lynn, to leave the roadway and plunge approximately 25 to 30 feet down an embankment. Lynn was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tesla driver, 41-year-old Zachary Kinberger, suffered major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. A passenger in the Tesla, a woman in her 20s, and two young children under the age of five were also taken to local hospitals for treatment. One of the occupants was airlifted due to the severity of injuries.

Authorities reported that Kinberger has been placed under arrest. He has a history of reckless driving and has been arrested 11 times since 2003.

Investigation: The CHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Early findings indicate the Tesla crossed into oncoming traffic before striking the Kia head-on.

Investigators will likely examine several key factors, including:

  • Lane departure and vehicle trajectory—determining how and why the Tesla entered the eastbound lane of Highway 180.
  • Driver impairment—authorities believe drugs may have been a factor, and toxicology results will help confirm whether impairment contributed to the crash.
  • Vehicle speed and crash reconstruction—officers will analyze impact damage, skid marks, and other physical evidence to reconstruct the collision.
  • Passenger safety and restraint use—investigators will review how the occupants of the Tesla were seated and whether child safety seats were properly used.
  • Witness accounts and electronic vehicle data—statements from witnesses and potential vehicle data may provide additional insight into what occurred before the collision.
  • Driver history and prior violations—investigators may also review the Tesla driver’s prior driving record, including any history of reckless driving or prior traffic offenses, to determine whether patterns of unsafe driving behavior may have contributed to the crash.

The findings from this investigation will help determine the exact sequence of events and whether additional criminal charges may be pursued.

Legal Considerations: Head-on collisions often occur when a driver crosses into oncoming traffic, creating a high risk of severe or fatal injuries. When drugs or other forms of impairment are involved, the driver’s actions may constitute both criminal wrongdoing and civil negligence.

If investigators confirm that impairment or negligent driving caused the Tesla to cross into the opposing lane, Misty Lynn’s surviving family members may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. These claims can seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and the emotional loss experienced by surviving loved ones.

The other injured occupants may also have personal injury claims to seek compensation for their medical expenses, ongoing treatment, pain and suffering, and other damages related to their injuries.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Misty Lynn during this heartbreaking time. My thoughts are also with the other injured individuals involved in the crash, and I hope they are able to recover from their injuries.
