Michael William Kiesler Injured in Semi-Truck Collision on I-90 in  Minnesota

Austin, MN (June 5, 2025) — A Waseca man was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after his pickup truck collided with a semi-truck on Interstate 90, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 12:47 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-90 near the Fourth Street Northwest overpass. Authorities say a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2025 Kenworth semi-truck were traveling west when they collided. The driver of the Silverado, 62-year-old Michael William Kiesler, was transported to the Mayo Clinic Hospital–Mary’s with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck, 59-year-old James Arthur Ward of Roland, Iowa, was not injured. Emergency response teams from the Austin Police Department, the Austin Fire Department, and the Mayo Clinic Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The crash remains under investigation, but authorities will focus on key issues such as lane positioning, speed, driver attentiveness, and whether unsafe merging or following too closely played a role.

Pending the investigation’s findings, Kiesler may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim for compensation related to medical expenses, vehicle damage, and pain and suffering.

I wish Mr. Kiesler a full recovery.
