Marvin White Killed; Sedan Driver Seriously Injured in Apple Valley Two-Vehicle Crash

Apple Valley, California  (February 7, 2026) — A late-night collision at a major Apple Valley intersection left one man dead and another driver seriously injured, according to authorities.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Marvin White, 66, of Apple Valley. Officials said White was driving a GMC Sierra pickup truck at the time of the crash.

The collision was reported just before 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Apple Valley Road and Yucca Loma Road. Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and found two heavily damaged vehicles, a northbound GMC Sierra and an eastbound Chrysler 300.

Incident Details: Investigators said the GMC Sierra and Chrysler 300 collided within the intersection. The force of the impact proved fatal for White, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chrysler was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Authorities have not released that individual’s name or provided an update on their condition.

The intersection was closed for several hours as deputies secured the area and began their on-scene investigation.

Investigation: The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the case. At this stage, officials have not released details regarding right-of-way, signal timing, speed, or potential contributing factors.

In serious intersection crashes, investigators typically analyze vehicle positioning, skid marks, impact angles, and onboard vehicle data to reconstruct how the collision occurred. They also review traffic control devices, visibility conditions, and whether either driver may have failed to yield or entered the intersection improperly.

Because the crash occurred at a signalized, high-traffic intersection, investigators will likely examine whether traffic lights were functioning properly and whether either vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed for the conditions. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses or traffic cameras may also help determine fault.

Authorities have not announced whether alcohol, drugs, or mechanical failure are suspected factors. No charges have been reported.

Witnesses or anyone with information are encouraged to contact the Apple Valley Police Department at (760) 240-7400. Anonymous tips may be submitted through the We-Tip hotline at (800) 782-7463.

Legal Considerations: Two-vehicle intersection crashes often raise complex liability questions, particularly when serious injuries or fatalities occur. Determining fault typically depends on compliance with traffic signals, right-of-way, and whether either driver exercised reasonable care under the circumstances.

From a civil standpoint, the White family may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim to address funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and the emotional impact of the loss. The injured driver may also have legal rights depending on the final findings of the investigation.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to Marvin White’s family and loved ones, and I wish healing and recovery for the injured driver.
