Oceanside, CA (July 7, 2024) – A tragic accident on Sunday night claimed the life of 20-year-old Marine Xander Allen Thorstad in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Douglas Drive and N River Road in Oceanside. The crash involved a motorcycle and a Volkswagen sedan.
Accident Details: The collision occurred when the Volkswagen, driven by a 64-year-old woman from Carlsbad, turned left from northbound Douglas Drive into the AMPM gas station. The vehicle struck the right front fender of the motorcycle, causing the motorcyclist, Thorstad, to be ejected from his bike. Thorstad was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation: The Volkswagen driver did not report any injuries and remained at the scene, cooperating with law enforcement. An investigation into the collision is ongoing, but the authorities have ruled out driving under the influence as a factor for the Volkswagen driver.
