GRANT COUNTY, AR (July 12, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash at a busy Grant County intersection claimed the life of 61-year-old Margaret Cobb of Sheridan, according to the Arkansas State Police.
Accident Details: The fatal crash occurred at approximately 1:56 p.m. at the junction of Highway 167 North and Grant 58 near Sheridan. Authorities say the incident began when a Ford F-250 towing a disabled Chevy Silverado experienced a broken tow strap. The Ford pulled onto Highway 167 and began reversing toward the Silverado.
At the same time, Margaret Cobb, driving a 2024 GMC Terrain, had come to a stop at the intersection when a northbound 2004 Peterbilt 378 truck struck her SUV from behind. The impact pushed Cobb’s vehicle into the rear of the Ford F-250.
Cobb was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Arkansas State Police are investigating the crash. Rear-end collisions, especially those involving commercial trucks, often lead to serious or fatal injuries due to the size and force of the vehicles involved. Investigators will review whether the truck driver maintained a safe following distance and reacted appropriately to traffic conditions.
Families affected by fatal trucking collisions may have legal options to pursue wrongful death claims for funeral expenses, lost support, and other damages.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Margaret Cobb.
