Fresno County, CA (June 6, 2025) — A man was killed and a woman seriously injured Thursday morning in a two-car collision just north of Reedley, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at the intersection of American and Buttonwillow Avenues. CHP officials report that a woman driving a Toyota Prius pulled out from American Avenue into the path of a northbound white sedan traveling on Buttonwillow Avenue. The resulting collision left the male driver of the sedan dead at the scene.
The woman driving the Prius was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with serious injuries. No other individuals were involved, and authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: While CHP continues its investigation, authorities have added that the incident appears to involve a failure to yield on the part of the Prius driver. Investigators will also investigate whether other factors, such as vehicle malfunction or driver distraction, played a role in the collision.
Depending on the findings of the investigation, the family of the deceased sedan driver may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for funeral costs, emotional loss, and the loss of financial support.
My condolences go out to the loved ones of the man who lost his life in this crash..
