Solano County, CA (March 25, 2025) – A 63-year-old man tragically died following a head-on collision on Highway 113 near Hay Road, south of Dixon, on the evening of March 25, 2025.
Accident Details: According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred at approximately 7:43 p.m. One of the drivers, a 63-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. CHP officials reported that the surviving driver, a 24-year-old man, is suspected of driving under the influence (DUI). He sustained major injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Driving under the influence is generally considered negligent because it impairs judgment, reaction time, and motor skills, making it dangerous for everyone on the road. However, when DUI is suspected, a comprehensive investigation is necessary to determine the facts. Investigators will likely review toxicology reports to determine whether the driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision. They may also analyze surveillance footage, if available, or any dashcam recordings that could shed light on the moments leading up to the crash. Additionally, accident reconstruction specialists can evaluate evidence such as skid marks, vehicle positioning, and damage patterns to determine how the collision occurred.
If the investigation finds negligence was the cause of the crash, the family of the deceased may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.
My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
