Bakersfield, CA (May 31, 2025) — A man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision Saturday night while walking along East Brundage Lane, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 10:27 p.m. in the 200 block of East Brundage Lane. Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle and found the man lying in the roadway with significant injuries. Medical responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Preliminary findings indicate the pedestrian was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a westbound vehicle. The driver fled the scene and has not yet been located.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once the family has been notified.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: As the investigation continues, authorities will likely review physical evidence, street lighting conditions, and nearby surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and driver.
Pending identification of the driver and additional findings, the victim’s family may pursue a wrongful death claim to recover funeral costs, emotional losses, and other damages.
