Fresno County, CA (April 7, 2025) — California Highway Patrol (CHP) is searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian early Monday morning along Marks Avenue, just south of Highway 180.

Incident Details: The crash occurred shortly after Midnight when a vehicle traveling southbound on Marks Avenue in the No. 1 lane struck a pedestrian in the roadway. According to CHP reports, the impact propelled the victim approximately 200 feet from the point of contact. The man, believed to be between 30 and 45 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver fled the area before officers arrived. There are no known witnesses at this time, and limited physical evidence was recovered from the crash site. The victim’s identity has not yet been publicly released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators are working to identify the driver and assess key factors, including the driver’s actions, vehicle speed, and any potential violations of traffic safety regulations.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the driver may face criminal charges. The victim’s family could also be entitled to compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and emotional distress. In hit-and-run cases, victims’ families may also seek recovery through uninsured motorist coverage, depending on the circumstances and available policies.

I extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
