Sioux Falls, SD (June 18, 2025) — A man was killed late Tuesday night after a violent crash involving a semi-truck with double trailers in a construction zone on Interstate 29 near 26th Street, according to Sioux Falls authorities.
Incident Details: The victim was driving northbound beside the semi-truck when the truck’s rear trailer wheels struck a concrete barrier. The impact caused the second trailer to tip and go airborne, ultimately landing on the man’s vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. The crash shut down part of the interstate as investigators and emergency crews responded.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities continue to investigate and will examine whether the driver was speeding, improperly positioned, or misjudging the lane space. Dashcam footage, black box data from the truck, and eyewitness accounts may prove critical.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the victim’s family may have a strong basis for a wrongful death claim to compensate for funeral costs, loss of companionship and support, and pain and suffering.
My condolences go out to the loved ones of the man lost in this collision.
