Madera County, California (September 7, 2025) — An 87-year-old Fresno woman was killed Sunday evening in a head-on crash in Madera County caused by a driver allegedly operating recklessly, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Highway 41 near Road 406. CHP said 30-year-old Savannah Bleu Rickman of Oakhurst was driving a black Honda Accord northbound when the vehicle veered into the southbound lane, colliding head-on with a white Ford Escape driven by a 63-year-old Fresno woman. Both vehicles sustained major damage and blocked traffic at the intersection. Two other people were also injured in the crash. Witnesses told CHP that Rickman had been driving recklessly and passing vehicles across double yellow lines moments before the collision.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Rickman was arrested following the crash. Investigators will review whether speed, reckless driving, or other violations contributed to the deadly impact. In addition to facing criminal charges, Rickman may also be subject to civil liability. Families of victims in fatal crashes may pursue wrongful death claims to recover funeral expenses, lost support, and damages for emotional suffering. Injured survivors may also bring personal injury claims for medical costs and long-term care needs.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family of the 87-year-old woman killed in this Madera County crash and wish recovery to those injured.
