Devore, California (September 9, 2025) — A 28-year-old motorcyclist identified as Luis Minero of Adelanto was killed Tuesday evening in a crash on the 15 Freeway near Devore, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash happened around 6:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-15 between Sierra Avenue and Sycamore Creek Drive. CHP said Minero was riding a Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle northbound in the No. 2 lane when he lost control and overturned into the No. 1 lane. Almost immediately, he was struck by a GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling in the same direction. Paramedics pronounced Minero dead at the scene at 7:03 p.m. The collision prompted a full closure of northbound I-15, with traffic backed up for several miles. A Sig Alert was issued at 7:30 p.m., and all lanes reopened by 9:20 p.m.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether speed, roadway conditions, or other factors played a role. Motorcycle crashes often lead to devastating consequences due to the lack of protection for riders. Families of victims such as Minero may pursue wrongful death claims to recover damages for funeral expenses, lost income, and emotional suffering.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Luis Minero during this difficult time.
