Los Olivos, CA | May 21, 2025 – A motorist was seriously injured Wednesday following a two-vehicle crash at a Los Olivos intersection, the same day the traffic signal was deactivated and replaced with stop signs.
Incident Details: According to Santa Barbara County Fire officials, the crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 154 and Roblar Avenue. A sedan and a pickup truck collided, sending the pickup into a tree off the roadway. One driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The other driver declined medical treatment at the scene. Officials noted that the crash coincided with the first day Caltrans removed the active traffic signal at the intersection.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are reviewing the circumstances of the crash and whether the new traffic configuration contributed to the collision. The California Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation, and traffic enforcement may be increased in the area as a precaution.
