Li Nie, Aifeng Wan, and Yu Zhang Among 7 Killed in Yellowstone Tour Van Crash

Yellowstone National Park, WY (May 1, 2025) – A deadly crash near Yellowstone National Park claimed the lives of seven people, including three Southern California residents: Li Nie, 64, and Aifeng Wan, 53, both of Arcadia, and Yu Zhang, 30, of Eastvale.

Incident Details: Preliminary findings from the Idaho State Police indicate that a Dodge Ram pickup truck crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 20 and collided head-on with a Mercedes van near Henry’s Lake, just west of the Idaho-Montana border. The van was carrying 14 occupants, 13 of whom were Chinese nationals. Yu Zhang was identified as the van’s driver. Several survivors were hospitalized, and the cause of the Dodge truck’s movement remains under investigation.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are working to determine why the pickup veered into oncoming traffic. As the crash involved international visitors and a commercial van, investigators are also likely to assess driver qualifications, vehicle maintenance records, and the potential for civil liability across multiple jurisdictions.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families and communities impacted by this heartbreaking incident.
