Lake County Man Killed in Semi-Truck Collision at CR-44A and CR-439 in Eustis

EUSTIS, FL (July 18, 2025) – A 56-year-old man from Lake County died Friday afternoon after his pickup truck collided with a semi-truck at the intersection of County Road 44A and County Road 439, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. when a 76-year-old Orlando man driving a 2013 Freightliner semi-truck approached the intersection at the same time as the driver of a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck. A witness told authorities that the semi-truck ran a red light and made a left turn directly into the path of the pickup.

The resulting collision sent both drivers to the hospital. The semi-truck driver was transported to Advent Health Waterman with non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup truck driver was taken to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the man who died.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Running a red light is a serious traffic violation that often leads to legal consequences, particularly when it results in a fatal collision. In truck crash cases, investigators also review driver logs, maintenance records, and compliance with commercial driving regulations.

Families impacted by fatal trucking crashes may have the right to pursue wrongful death claims for funeral costs, loss of financial support, and emotional suffering if negligence is confirmed.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life in this tragic crash.
