Kirk Brown Injured, One Other Dead in Head-On Crash in Los Molinos

Los Molinos, CA (March 22, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision on Friday morning near Los Molinos resulted in the death of a Redding man and left another with major injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident occurred on Highway 99E near Palm Street.

Incident Details: A 35-year-old man from Redding, driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra northbound, veered across a double parallel yellow line into the southbound lane, directly into the path of a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 54-year-old Kirk Brown, also from Redding. The collision was head-on, necessitating the extrication of both drivers by emergency personnel.

Casualties and Injuries: The driver of the Nissan Sentra suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Enloe Health, where he was later pronounced dead. Kirk Brown sustained major injuries and was transported by ground to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Red Bluff.

Ongoing Investigation and Implications: The Red Bluff CHP Office is actively investigating the crash to determine the precise cause and any contributing factors. Based on the preliminary information, Kirk may have the option of pursuing a personal injury claim for medical treatment costs, pain and suffering, and other losses. Hopefully the investigation will reveal more details as to why the Nissan veered into oncoming traffic.

I offer my sincerest condolences to the family of the unnamed driver as well as my best wishes to Kirk Brown and his family. I hope they all receive the support they need after this tragic accident.
