Burlington Township, NJ (March 13, 2025) – Authorities have identified Kayla Stanton, 20, of Florence as the victim in a fatal crash that occurred on March 11 at the intersection of County Route 541 and Cadillac Road. An infant was also injured in the collision.
Incident Details: According to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, a minivan collided with a tractor-trailer at a traffic light around 11:30 a.m. Stanton, who was a front-seat passenger in the minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene. The minivan’s driver and an infant passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Stanton’s family described her as the “backbone” of their family. Her stepfather, Christopher Eric Hughes, shared that she was dedicated to her siblings and had a vibrant personality. “She made sure people knew her and loved to stand out in crowds,” he wrote in an emotional tribute.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Fatal crashes involving commercial vehicles often require a detailed investigation into potential causes, including driver negligence, traffic signal violations, and roadway conditions. Authorities will likely review whether either driver failed to yield or if any mechanical failures contributed to the collision. If negligence played a role, Stanton’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for their tragic loss.
My deepest condolences go out to the family of Kayla Stanton.
