Investigation and Legal Considerations: Under California law, fleeing the scene of a crash that results in injury or death is a felony. Drivers must stop, render aid, and contact law enforcement.
In cases like this, the victim’s family may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim if the suspect is located, especially if negligence or reckless behavior plays a role. These claims can help families recover funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and compensation for emotional suffering.
