Lakeside, CA (May 19, 2025) – A 31-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Jonathan Mejia, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on State Route 67 in Lakeside Sunday night.
Incident Details: The fatal crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. on northbound SR-67 near Slaughterhouse Canyon Road. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Jonathan Mejia was riding his 2008 Yamaha R6 motorcycle when he collided with a gray Toyota Prius. The impact ejected Mejia from his motorcycle, and he was then struck by at least one other vehicle, which fled the scene. Mejia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: CHP officers are actively investigating the crash and searching for the hit-and-run driver. Authorities have asked the public for help identifying any vehicles involved in the collision. It remains unclear if alcohol, drugs, or speed were factors.
