Jerry Lamb, 64, Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on US 20 in Indiana

Elkhart County, IN (July 31, 2025) — A 64-year-old Nappanee man was killed Thursday afternoon in a chain-reaction collision involving a semi-truck on US 20, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. east of County Road 13. Investigators say a Volvo semi-tractor/trailer driven by 60-year-old Nenad Stankovic of Chicago rear-ended a Jeep Liberty driven by Jerry Lamb. The impact pushed Lamb’s vehicle into the back of a Ford F550 operated by 47-year-old David Wesley Pilditch of New Haven. Lamb died from his injuries at the scene. His passenger, 54-year-old Glenn Freel of Nappanee, sustained a laceration and was transported to a South Bend hospital for treatment. Neither Stankovic nor Pilditch was injured.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The investigation is ongoing and authorities will assess whether following distance, driver attentiveness, or traffic conditions contributed to the crash. Evidence such as dashcam footage, event data recorders, and witness statements will be crucial in determining fault.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the family of Jerry Lamb may pursue a wrongful death claim seeking compensation for funeral costs, loss of companionship, and other damages. Mr. Freel may also have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim for medical expenses and other losses.

I extend my condolences to the family and friends of Jerry Lamb and hope for a speedy recovery for Glenn Freel.
