Two Injured in I-70 Crash Involving Tanker Truck Near Dunningsville

Somerset Township, PA (March 28, 2025) – Two people were taken to the hospital early Friday morning after a four-vehicle crash involving a tanker truck shut down a stretch of Interstate 70 near Dunningsville, according to emergency officials.

Accident Details: The crash occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near the Dunningsville exit. Three passenger vehicles and a tanker truck were involved in the collision. Emergency responders transported two people to Washington Hospital for treatment. Their names and conditions have not been released.

Legal Considerations: Crashes involving commercial tankers and multiple vehicles often prompt reviews of lane positioning, speed, and driver awareness. Investigators will likely assess whether any driver failed to maintain proper distance or attempted a hazardous maneuver.

Depending on the findings, the injured parties may have the right to pursue claims related to medical costs, vehicle damage, or other losses caused by the crash. If commercial driver negligence is identified, liability could extend to both the driver and the trucking company.

Ongoing Investigation: Pennsylvania State Police are leading the investigation. The eastbound lanes of I-70 reopened around 7:00 a.m. after emergency crews cleared the scene and ensured the roadway was safe for traffic. No charges or citations have been reported at this time.

I hope both individuals injured in the crash recover swiftly and receive the care they need.
