Horse Euthanized, Rider Suffers Major Injuries After Being Hit by Car in Sacramento County

Sacramento County, CA (April 4, 2025) – A devastating collision in Sacramento County left a horse rider with major injuries and led to the horse being euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.

Incident Details: The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred Thursday evening along Clay Station Road. A woman was riding her horse when they were both struck by a vehicle under circumstances that have not yet been fully disclosed. The rider sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, the horse’s injuries were deemed non-survivable, and it was humanely euthanized at the scene.
