Hoanh Thanh Ngo Killed and Another Injured in Suspected DUI Crash in Stanton

Stanton, CA (May 2, 2025) –  A devastating collision late Friday night in Stanton claimed the life of 55-year-old Hoanh Thanh Ngo and left another person hospitalized.

Accident Details: According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Pacific Avenue. Emergency crews from the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and found two damaged vehicles.

Tragically, the driver of the Toyota van, later identified as Hoanh Thanh Ngo, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. Their current condition has not been disclosed.

Deputies located the driver of a Dodge sedan, 30-year-old James Anthony Deleon of Irvine, a short distance from the crash site after he allegedly attempted to flee on foot. He was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including DUI with a prior conviction, DUI causing injury, and murder.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Alcohol impairs judgment, slows reaction time, and affects a driver’s ability to make safe decisions on the road. A full investigation will focus on the events leading up to the crash, whether the driver was impaired, and what role that impairment played in the collision.

Depending on the results of the investigation, Ngo’s family may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. The injured person may be able to file a personal injury claim.

I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Hoanh Thanh Ngo. My thoughts are also with the injured victim, and I hope for their full recovery.
