Yucca Valley, CA (February 26, 2025) – Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and severely injured 74-year-old Lloyd Kaiser on Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025.
Accident Details: The collision occurred just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Grand Avenue. Kaiser was crossing Grand Avenue when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver got out and helped Kaiser to the curb but then returned to his vehicle, made a U-turn, and drove northbound on Grand Avenue. Emergency responders transported Kaiser to a local hospital with significant injuries. His current condition has not been disclosed.
Deputies searched the area with helicopter assistance, but the suspect and vehicle remain at large. Authorities are looking for a red hatchback of an unknown make and model. The suspected driver is described as a Latino male between 40-50 years old in a black shirt, black shorts, and black shoes.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities urge the public to help identify the suspect. Drivers involved in collisions must remain at the scene, provide assistance, and wait for law enforcement. Fleeing the scene of an accident delays emergency response and prevents accountability.
Law enforcement will likely investigate factors such as whether the driver failed to yield or was speeding, intoxicated, or distracted. Authorities will examine nearby traffic cameras and business surveillance footage for possible crucial evidence of vehicle’s movements.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation and search for the driver, Kaiser may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim, seeking compensation for medical bills, lost wgaes, rehabilitation, and emotional distress.
My thoughts are with Lloyd Kaiser as he recovers from this traumatic accident. I wish him a fast recovery.
