22-Year-Old Skateboarder Killed in Koreatown Hit-and-Run Crash

Los Angeles, CA (March 27, 2025) – A 22-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding a skateboard in Koreatown, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 5:50 a.m. near the intersection of Sixth Street and Mariposa Avenue. Police say the victim was riding a skateboard when a vehicle traveling north on Catalina Avenue turned left onto Sixth Street and struck him.

Paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released, pending family notification.

The driver fled the area, and no description of the vehicle or suspect has been made available at this time.

Legal Considerations: Hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians or skateboarders raise serious legal and criminal concerns. Failing to stop and render aid at the scene of a deadly crash is a felony under California law. Investigators will likely review traffic cameras, nearby surveillance footage, and eyewitness accounts to identify the vehicle and driver.

Depending on what the investigation reveals, the victim’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim once the responsible party is located.

Ongoing Investigation: The LAPD is asking anyone with information about the crash or the fleeing vehicle to come forward. Detectives with the department’s Media Relations Division are handling the case.

I extend my condolences to the family and friends of the young man whose life was taken in this senseless incident.
