Roseville, CA (July 21, 2024) – Five individuals were hospitalized following a serious two-car crash at the Eureka Road off-ramp from eastbound I-80 in Roseville.
Incident Details and Ongoing Investigation: The accident involved a Nissan Frontier driven by 52-year-old Dale Benjamin of Antelope. Benjamin reportedly traveled at high speeds on the interchange from southbound Atlantic Street to eastbound I-80. He failed to navigate the cloverleaf. As a result, his vehicle crossed the median separating the 80 on-ramp from the Eureka Road off-ramp and broadsided a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The Hyundai, driven by 43-year-old Ryan Penano of Rancho Cordova, rolled over due to the impact. BenjBenjamin’sntier continued its trajectory across all lanes of the off-ramp, ultimately hitting a metal guardrail and descending a steep embankment.
The crash left Benjamin with major injuries, while his passenger sustained moderate injuries. Penano and his two child passengers also suffered major injuries. All five individuals were transported by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. CHP confirmed that everyone involved was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
