Ward County, TX (March 1, 2025) – A tragic collision involving two semi-trucks claimed the lives of 59-year-old David Allen Tubb of Conroe, Texas, and 59-year-old Pedro A. Flores-Gonzalez of Florida, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Accident Details: The fatal crash occurred around 10:12 a.m. on FM 1776, approximately two miles south of Stockton Avenue. Authorities say a slow-moving vehicle traveling southwest was partially in the roadway and had stopped, forcing Flores-Gonzalez, who was driving a semi-truck behind it, to brake suddenly and veer into the northeast lane. This maneuver placed his semi directly in the path of another semi-truck, driven by Tubb, traveling northeast. The two semi-trucks collided head-on. Both drivers suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: One critical aspect of the investigation will be determining why the slow-moving vehicle was partially on the roadway and stopped. Investigators will also analyze whether Flores-Gonzalez had enough time and space to react to the slow-moving vehicle without veering into oncoming traffic. If he was following too closely or traveling at a high speed, he may have had limited options to avoid a collision.
Authorities will collect and examine evidence, including black box data from both semi-trucks, which can reveal speed, brake application, and steering inputs before impact. They will also look at witness statements, the accident scene, road conditions, and truck maintenance records.
If it is determined that negligence caused the crash, wrongful death claims may be pursued against responsible parties.
I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of David Allen Tubb and Pedro A. Flores-Gonzalez.
