Dalhart, TX (April 25, 2025) – George Acker, a 34-year-old man from Dalhart, was tragically killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Thursday afternoon.
Incident Details: According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred on April 25 at around 3:10 p.m. on U.S. Highway 54, approximately two miles southeast of Dalhart. Investigators say a 2021 International truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer was stopped in the northbound lane of the highway when a 2014 Dodge Ram driven by Acker struck the rear of the semi. Acker was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The crash remains under investigation by DPS troopers, who are working to determine the exact cause of the collision. Factors such as vehicle speed, visibility, and whether proper hazard signals were used by the semi-truck are likely being reviewed. No citations or charges have been reported at this time.
