Four Hospitalized After Semi-Truck Hits Two Vehicles and Bridge in Kentucky

Bullitt County, KY (June 17, 2025) — Four people, including a semi-truck driver, were hospitalized Monday night after the truck struck two vehicles and a bridge on South Preston Highway before coming to a stop. Authorities say all individuals are expected to survive.

Incident Details: According to the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, the series of collisions began around 9:42 p.m. near the bridge at Collings Hill Road. Dispatch initially reported that the semi had struck a vehicle, then continued northbound on Preston Highway. Minutes later, an off-duty Shepherdsville Police officer reported that the same truck struck a second vehicle on Wilson Creek Road.

The driver of the semi, identified as Larry Coffin, along with the drivers of the other two vehicles and one passenger, were transported to local hospitals. The specific vehicle the passenger occupied has not yet been confirmed. All sustained injuries, though none are reported as life-threatening.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Coffin has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid. Investigators will now assess what caused Coffin to strike multiple vehicles and a bridge in such a short span. Fatigue, impairment, or mechanical failure may all be explored.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the injured parties may have grounds to file personal injury claims for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.

Wishing all individuals involved a full and speedy recovery.
