Father and Two Children Struck by Semi-Truck While Crossing Brewton Intersection

Brewton, AL (April 1, 2025) – A father and his two small children were hospitalized Monday afternoon after being struck by a semi-truck pulling an unloaded log trailer at a busy intersection in Brewton. The children remain in stable condition, according to the Brewton Police Department.

Incident Details: The collision occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Mildred Street and Green Street. The father was pushing a stroller with one of the children as they crossed the street. As a semi-truck turned south onto Mildred Street, the front passenger side of the vehicle struck the man and both children. All three were pedestrians. The father’s condition has not been disclosed, but the two children are reportedly recovering in the hospital.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Due to the involvement of young children and the severity of the incident, Brewton Police called in a traffic homicide investigator to lead the case. The investigation is ongoing and may take several months, as officials await results from forensic analysis. Investigators will evaluate whether the truck driver failed to yield or exercised negligence during the left turn. The family may have grounds for a personal injury claim depending on the findings.
