Monterey County, CA (October 19, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in south Monterey County resulted in the death of 49-year-old Omar Arriaga from Salinas on Saturday.
Accident Details: The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. when a 16-year-old male driving a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 struck the rear of a Chevrolet Colorado. The collision caused the Colorado to lose control and overturn. Arriaga was the driver of the Chevrolet Colorado. He died at the scene. His passenger was rushed to Natividad Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The crash set off a chain reaction involving more vehicles. No injuries were reported in the white Honda Accord, the white Chevrolet 2500, or the maroon Toyota Sienna.
Investigation: The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating the incident. No charges have been filed, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
