Lansing, IL (July 29, 2025) – A crash involving two vehicles Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 in Lansing left one driver dead and another injured.
Accident Details: According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred around 4:20 a.m. on westbound I-80 near Torrence Avenue. A Dodge SUV and Chevrolet sedan were both traveling in the same direction when the Dodge struck the rear of the Chevrolet, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a wall.
The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Troopers are reviewing speed, lane position, and any signs of distraction or impairment. In rear-end collisions, liability typically rests with the trailing driver. The family of the deceased may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim.
