Fatal Hit-and-Run Claims Life of Hoang Xuan Tran in Westminster

Westminster, CA (October 21, 2024) – On Monday night, October 21, 2024, a fatal hit-and-run collision occurred around 10:20 p.m. in Westminster, killing 58-year-old Hoang Xuan Tran.

Accident Details:  The Westminster Police Department reported that officers responded to the scene near Westminster Boulevard and Yockey Street, where they found a man lying in the eastbound lanes of Westminster Boulevard. Medics from the Orange County Fire Authority provided emergency aid, but Hoang Xuan Tran succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Witnesses indicated that a new, dark-colored sedan was seen leaving the area and heading eastbound on Westminster Boulevard just before officers arrived. Police are actively investigating and have requested that anyone with information contact the Westminster Police Department watch commander or Orange County Crime Stoppers.

Legal Considerations: Leaving the scene of a crash is illegal and generally viewed as a form of negligence. Drivers have a duty to remain at the site of an accident to assist injured parties and cooperate with law enforcement. In this case, the driver fled, potentially violating California’s laws on hit-and-run incidents, which could be considered strong evidence of negligence if proven.

If the driver is identified and found negligent, Hoang Xuan Tran’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death lawsuit could help provide financial support for the family’s losses, such as funeral costs and the emotional pain of losing a loved one in such a tragic manner.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Hoang Xuan Tran. I hope they find support and comfort in this difficult time.
