Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Kills Rollerblader Jonathan Gonzalez in West Los Angeles

West Los Angeles, CA (September 20, 2024) – On the evening of Friday, September 20, 2024, Jonathan Gonzalez, 31, was fatally struck in a hit-and-run collision while rollerblading in West Los Angeles.

Accident Details: The tragic accident occurred around 8:40 p.m. in the 2100 block of South Bundy Drive, near Olympic Boulevard. According to witness reports, the driver of a Dodge Durango SUV traveling west on Olympic Boulevard collided with Gonzalez, who was also skating westbound near Bundy Drive. Unfortunately, Gonzalez died at the scene. The driver immediately fled the scene. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident and urging anyone with information to come forward.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. In hit-and-run cases, locating the driver can be a challenge, but law enforcement efforts often involve analyzing surveillance footage, reviewing eyewitness accounts, and following up on tips. Once the driver is found, they may face criminal charges and civil charges.

If the driver is identified, Gonzalez’s family could pursue a wrongful death lawsuit. This civil action could hold the driver accountable for their negligence and seek compensation for the family’s loss, including funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and other damages.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Jonathan Gonzalez during this heartbreaking time.
