Victorville, CA (November 12, 2024) – On the night of November 12, 2024, a tragic two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Amethyst Road and Mojave Drive in Victorville claimed the life of 22-year-old James E. Vasser, a resident of Victorville.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 9:55 p.m. and involved a black Chevrolet Tahoe and a black Kia Soul. The vehicles collided head-on, resulting in serious injuries to Vasser, the driver of the Kia, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Tahoe sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigation: The Victorville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this incident. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Deputy R. Castillo.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that the investigation will likely focus on factors such as:
- Traffic Signals and Right of Way: Did either driver fail to adhere to traffic signals or right-of-way rules at the intersection?
- Driver Behavior: Was speeding, distraction, or recklessness a contributing factor?
- Road Conditions: Were lighting, signage, or other road factors inadequate or misleading?
- Vehicle Issue: Did the Chevrolet or Honda have a mechanical defect or malfunction that contributed to the accident?
For the family of James Vasser, this investigation will play a crucial role in understanding what led to the crash. If evidence suggests that the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe or another party was negligent, Vasser’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. This claim could allow them to recover compensation, including funeral expenses and emotional distress damages.
If the Chevrolet driver’s injuries were caused or exacerbated by another party’s negligence, they may be able to file a personal injury claim. With this claim, they can recover medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of James Vasser. I wish the injured Tahoe driver a swift recovery.
