Eudoro Moya Jr. Killed in Collision with Juvenile Driver in Monterey County

Monterey County, CA (August 5, 2025) — A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night in a crash involving a teenage driver on Reservation Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: CHP reports the collision occurred around 9:57 p.m. just south of Blanco. A 16-year-old male from Seaside was driving southbound when his vehicle hit 35-year-old Eudoro Moya Jr., of Marina, who was walking in the same lane of travel. Moya died at the scene from his injuries. The juvenile driver was uninjured and remained at the scene. Investigators have not confirmed whether the teen was licensed. While DUI is not suspected for the driver, authorities have not determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor for the pedestrian.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: As the overall investigation continues, CHP investigators are examining vehicle speed, lighting conditions, and visibility on Reservation Road to determine whether the driver maintained a proper lookout and safe speed.

Pending the investigation’s outcome, the Moya family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to compensate them for the loss of Eudoro’s companionship, lost wages, emotional distress, and funeral costs.

I send my condolences to the loved ones of Mr. Moya during this difficult time.
