Santa Rosa, CA (November 5, 2023) – Two elderly individuals were taken to the hospital Sunday morning following a two-vehicle crash at a busy Santa Rosa intersection, according to local police.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Piner Road and Marlow Road. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, an 88-year-old woman driving a blue Honda Accord allegedly ran a red light while traveling westbound on Piner Road. Her vehicle struck a silver Hyundai Sonata driven by a 78-year-old man heading south on Marlow Road.
Both drivers were hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities stated that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been involved. The roadway was cleared and reopened by 1:15 p.m.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, including whether distraction or a potential medical emergency may have contributed. In California, drivers injured in collisions may have legal options if the other driver is found to be at fault.
I extend my sincere wishes for a full and speedy recovery to both individuals injured in this collision.
