Lincolnwood, IL (April 29, 2025) – A semi-truck crash on the inbound Edens Expressway near Touhy Avenue sent one person to the hospital and caused significant commuter disruption Monday morning.
Incident Details: Authorities say the crash happened just before 10 a.m. on I-94 when a semi-truck hauling a lift struck bridge support beams near Touhy Avenue. The impact scattered debris and forced the closure of all inbound lanes at Dempster Street. One person in another vehicle was taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Traffic in the area came to a standstill as emergency responders and engineers arrived on scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the crash, including whether the truck exceeded height limits or failed to secure its load properly. Investigators will also examine if signage or driver error played a role. IDOT structural engineers assessed damage to the bridge and worked to determine when the road could safely reopen.
Our thoughts are with the injured individual, and we wish them a full recovery.
