Pamela Beran and Several Others Involved in Deadly Chain-Reaction Crash on Highway 101 in East Palo Alto

East Palo Alto, CA (August 11, 2025) – A multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Highway 101 in East Palo Alto left one woman dead and several others injured Monday morning.

Incident Details: The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred around 5:44 a.m. in the southbound lanes near University Avenue. The crash involved multiple vehicles and began when traffic slowed and a vehicle failed to stop in time, triggering a series of impacts. Pamela Beran, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene. Several others sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Investigation: The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the events that led to the collision. Authorities are reviewing witness statements and possible surveillance footage to determine contributing factors. The southbound lanes of Highway 101 were closed for several hours during the investigation and cleanup.
