Georgetown County, SC (June 2, 2025) — One person was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on SC Highway 51 near Amos Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 7:50 a.m. when a Nissan sedan traveling south on SC-51 collided head-on with a semi-truck traveling northbound. The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries, though their condition has not been disclosed. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The cause of the crash has not been determined, and SCHP’s investigation is ongoing. Investigators will closely examine whether driver fatigue, mechanical issues, speed, or road conditions played a role.
Pending the findings of the investigation, the victim’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit for funeral expenses, emotional loss, and other damages..
