HOUSTON, TX (July 18, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler shut down eastbound I-10 in Houston early Thursday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on I-10 East at the Waco offramp. Investigators say a pickup truck crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler. The impact pinned the pickup driver inside the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the collision, police closed the eastbound lanes of I-10 to conduct the investigation. The roadway was reopened around 6 a.m., but a separate stalled vehicle kept part of the highway temporarily closed. Authorities have not confirmed whether the stalled vehicle was related to the original crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Houston police are investigating the collision. Rear-end crashes involving large trucks can lead to complex legal questions regarding speed, following distance, and traffic conditions. In fatal trucking accidents, surviving family members may have legal options to pursue compensation for funeral costs, loss of income, and other damages.
We extend our condolences to the family of the driver who lost their life in this tragic crash.
