Houston, TX (March 21, 2025) – A collision claimed the life of a driver in the early morning hours of March 23, 2025, along South State Highway 6.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the 1100 block of State Highway 6 when a southbound gray Honda Accord collided with a white Freightliner 18-wheeler. Authorities say the semi-truck was attempting to exit a parking lot and make a left turn across the main lanes of traffic when the collision occurred.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The truck driver remained on the scene, was not impaired, and cooperated fully with authorities. No charges have been filed as of now.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will examine key questions such as who had the right of way, whether the truck turned too slowly, and whether either party misjudged each other’s distance. Authorities will also likely review whether the Honda’s driver was traveling at a safe speed or may have had limited visibility due to lighting or roadway conditions.
Crash scene evidence—such as skid marks, vehicle damage patterns, and witness accounts—will be crucial. Additionally, investigators may look at the truck’s dash cam footage, driver logs, and electronic control module data to confirm vehicle speed and timing of the turn.
If negligence is found, the victim’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim under Texas law.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual who died in this crash.
