Battle Creek, MI (March 21, 2025) – Douglas Johnson of Battle Creek was injured in a hit-and-run crash involving a semi-truck at the intersection of Michigan and Hamblin Avenues. The semi-truck left the scene after striking Johnson’s vehicle while attempting a left turn.
Incident Details: Johnson was stopped in the left-turn lane when the semi collided with his vehicle. He sustained a minor knee injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The semi-truck driver did not stop and has not yet been identified. Johnson described the intersection as a high-traffic area for commercial trucks and suggested that traffic patterns may need to be reevaluated to prevent future incidents.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Battle Creek Police Department is working with a state agency to locate the truck and its driver. If the driver is found, they may face a misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of a crash, which can carry up to one year of jail time if convicted. In addition to criminal charges, Johnson may also be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim for medical expenses and other damages resulting from the collision.
Wishing Douglas Johnson a full recovery, and hoping for accountability from the driver involved.
