Detroit, Michigan (September 9, 2025) — A 41-year-old man was killed Tuesday night in a crash on Interstate 75 after being struck by a semi-truck and several cars, according to Michigan State Police.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on northbound I-75 near Dearborn Street. Police said the Detroit man was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a semi-truck. The motorcyclist was then hit by several other vehicles. Troopers found him dead on the roadway. Investigators said the semi-truck left the scene. Later, a 50-year-old semi-truck driver from Warren called dispatch, admitted he had struck something, and said he drove away because he was nervous.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Michigan State Police are interviewing the semi-truck driver and will submit a report to the prosecutor’s office for review. Leaving the scene of a crash is a serious offense and may result in felony charges, particularly when fatalities are involved. The victim’s family may pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck driver and potentially the trucking company to recover damages for funeral costs, lost income, and emotional suffering.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the man killed in this Detroit truck accident.
