Deer Springs, CA (March 30, 2025) – Two people were killed early Sunday morning when a wrong-way driver collided head-on with another vehicle on southbound Interstate 15 just north of the Deer Springs exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 2:22 a.m., when 911 dispatchers began receiving calls about two unconscious drivers trapped in their vehicles following a head-on collision. The impact scattered debris across several freeway lanes, causing secondary impacts with additional vehicles. Emergency crews arrived on scene and extricated both drivers, but tragically, both were pronounced dead at the scene. CHP issued a traffic alert and temporarily closed southbound I-15 just south of Highway 76.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the wrong-way driver entering the southbound lanes. Key questions include whether impairment, signage visibility, or fatigue played a role. Wrong-way crashes are among the most severe types of collisions, and surviving family members of the victim not at fault may have grounds for wrongful death claims.
