Clanton, AL (April 11, 2025) – An 82-year-old man from Verbena died following a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck last Friday in Chilton County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Accident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 11:35 a.m. at the intersection of Chilton County Road 97 and U.S. Highway 31, about one mile east of Clanton. Authorities say David E. Little was driving a 2000 Honda CR-V when it was struck by a 2018 Mack truck.
Little sustained critical injuries and was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, where he later died from his injuries.
Legal Considerations: In collisions involving commercial trucks and passenger vehicles, investigators typically examine factors such as speed, right-of-way, driver awareness, and any potential violations of traffic laws. Depending on the outcome of ALEA’s investigation, the truck driver or trucking company may face liability if negligence or improper conduct contributed to the crash.
If evidence supports that the semi-truck driver failed to yield or violated traffic regulations, David E. Little’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.
Ongoing Investigation: ALEA continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional information has been released regarding citations, charges, or the identity of the truck driver.
I extend my condolences to the family and friends of David E. Little during this difficult time.
